Tributes Pour In for the Reiners as Medical Examiner's Findings Face a Security Hold.
Well beyond 14 days after the tragic deaths of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues are still paying respects to the pair.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Writing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he just recently felt ready to share openly about his personal sorrow.
"Adequate time has passed that I can at last express my sorrow into words," wrote Elwes, saying that his introductory moment with Reiner made him fall in love. "As we began sharing more moments together I understood this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor uploaded archival material from the movie, commenting that he cannot recall "one day without mirth".
"The movie is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Principles that Rob cherished deeply. That is part of the many reasons he was the best person to helm it," Elwes expressed.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, saying: "Claiming that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I remember you." He finished with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Friend and Collaborator
In a separate tribute, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved being with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the main character.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked beautifully with the cast, and he understood the human predicament of his character," Scorsese noted.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Sealed
In a new development, a Los Angeles court official agreed to bar the publication of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, after an appeal from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A legal directive put a embargo on the files to restrict the public release of "any investigative information, evidence and photographs" associated with the active case.
The relevant authority had already determined their deaths were the consequence of homicide, with a public database citing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Fallout and Commentary
Following the tragedy, public individuals offered varying comments.
Former President Donald Trump posted on the matter, providing provocative remarks that were broadly criticized by many individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his perspective to the detractors recently. Talking on his podcast, Rogan characterized the remarks as "shocking" and suggested they revealed a troubling absence of compassion.
Rogan concluded by proposing that an adviser ought to have acted when the decision to speak on the death was made.
