The Reform UK leader Accuses Teachers of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Race Issues

Nigel Farage has asserted that teachers would go on strike within weeks a Reform UK election victory, accusing them of “poisoning our kids” by telling children that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and white children oppressors.

At a gathering for a private US Christian college, Farage outlined his perspective on the UK education system, stating that the “radical left-wing” had “now in control of our education system”.

“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike very quickly after securing a victory,” he remarked during a Q&A session.

“They are poisoning our kids. They instruct children to be ashamed of their country. They are telling an eight-year-old black child that he is a victim and a white child of the same age that he is an oppressor. They create division, instead of fostering unity. They are feeding this harmful mindset.”

In response to these assertions, the head of a major education union rejected the idea that the schools were under Marxist influence as “absurd”. He pointed out that any strikes must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and questioned whether Reform would attack these right after taking office.

“Farage has built his public life on coded rhetoric and currently, like Trump, he is lining up teachers and their unions for a fight,” the union leader said.

“This is highly reckless. Neither I nor our union – advocate such divisive theories as he claims … If he were to lead the government he would undermine state services, including education … and the outcome would be catastrophic for education and children.”

The party, which tops surveys by about 10 points, has not set out much detail on its educational plans and seems not to have appointed an education spokesperson.

Nonetheless, Farage’s remarks indicated the group would reform the educational framework. Farage declared: “We face an enormous task with education – truly monumental. And, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, years to turn this around.”

Farage expressed that younger generations are receptive to critical thinking, but older youth were “completely lost”.

Honoring Charlie Kirk, he commented: “My goal for schooling is to foster independent thought – to instruct people that there are two points of view and you make up your own mind rather than current practices where views are labeled good or bad. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”

The party has conflicted with the UK’s largest teaching union, after the union leader labeled them “far right and racist” and dismissed Farage as “a cheap imitation”.

The politician has charged Kebede of being “a self-declared Marxist” … an individual intent that young minds be corrupted at school, their thinking tainted about everything to do with this country” and maintained that the organization seeks to brainwash teenagers against Reform.

Roughly a million individuals work in schools in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The major education union has hundreds of thousands of members.

Countrywide walkouts over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 caused widespread disruption in educational institutions and millions of days of lost learning for students.

During the American gathering, Farage also pledged to help spread the online educational material of the institution in the UK. He stated such groups were “part of the fightback”, adding that: “I mean this. I will help garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of young people to these educational programs. I pledge this tonight and I will follow through.”

The institution, a religious educational establishment, offers free courses. Its website states: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is vital for well-being and to maintain the benefits of freedom. It offers these beautiful courses for no charge to every interested learner.”
