Comedian and author David Walliams lost his contract with book publisher.

The author

Best-selling children's author and comedian David Walliams has been dropped by his publisher HarperCollins UK, the company has said.

An official for the publisher commented: "Following a thorough review, and with the guidance of its recently appointed chief executive, HarperCollins UK has chosen to cease publishing any new titles by David Walliams."

It has been reported that the conclusion was made after an review of reports of inappropriate behaviour involving young women.

The company declined to specify the specific rationale behind the move, noting: "It is not our policy to discuss private personnel issues."

A Prolific Literary Career

Walliams is one of the UK's most successful children's authors, boasting over in excess of 60 million copies globally in dozens of tongues.

The debut children's novel from Walliams, *The Boy in the Dress*, was published by HarperCollins back in 2008.

Some of his books, for example *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have subsequently been turned into television films.

His bibliography includes more than 40 books altogether, encompassing a Christmas book called *Santa & Son*, which came out under HarperCollins last autumn.

A Dual Career

He first rose to fame on the broadcast sketch program *Little Britain* and has also won National Television Awards for his role as a panelist on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He received an OBE in 2017 for his services to philanthropic and artistic endeavors.

The publisher's decision comes after the selection of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's new chief executive in October.
