Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Player the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and were in communication with the NFL.

The team did not mention Rice specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice directly, posted a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the team selected in the second round.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Prior Legal Issues

The receiver missed the first six games of this season following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that left multiple people injured. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice finished the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
