Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Deadly Car Crash

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos stated on Wednesday evening. The fighter was involved in a car accident near Lagos on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that took the lives of two of his team members.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The boxer had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.

“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the official remarked.

Honoring the Deceased

The two men who died were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the loss of his two close friends.”

The news of his discharge follows the global fight fans offered condolences for the star in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
