The Christmas holidays provide a wealth of pastimes much better than scanning the updates: discovering surprises, feasting on festive fare, and employing patience techniques to not yelling at loved ones. Hopefully you succeeded in accomplish all these things and more. However, the world of entertainment never sleeps, and this is especially true for the realm of anime. Numerous exciting announcements emerged over the break, and just in case you missed a few, here is a compilation of the juiciest bits.

One-Punch Man Season 3 Is Moving Forward (Come 2027)

Truly the biggest piece of news, the notorious disaster that was the third season of One-Punch Man failed to stop the series' continuation. The show will return with a subsequent part in 2027—a date so remote they might as well have labeled it season 4. Adding to the surprise, animation studio J.C. Staff will still be at the helm. Thankfully this time, director Shinpei Nagai is attached to direct from the start, which could be taken as a hopeful indicator. Yet, the main art for the second cour is identical to the one used for season 3, just with characters Saitama and Garou looking opposite ways. This makes me think that, nowadays, they are probably teasing the fans.

Ruri Dragon Will Be the Premiere Shonen Jump Anime From Kyoto Animation

Kyoto Animation has established a reputation for being an prestigious animation studio, setting itself apart not just for the high caliber of its productions but for the fair treatment of its employees—a rarity in the industry. Surprisingly, until now, it had not adapted an anime based on a manga from Shonen Jump, perhaps the best-known magazine in the industry. Ruri Dragon will change that, and what a great choice it is. The manga by Masaoki Shindo achieved a huge following when it launched in 2022 after just a small number of issues, but then went into a extended pause due to the creator's health issues. When it came back with a more relaxed pace, the series proved it still retained the fans' appreciation and enthusiasm, and now fans are overjoyed about the forthcoming KyoAni adaptation.

The Kingdom Series Its Sixth Season Will Get a Sequel In Production

Kingdom is the best-selling, long-running Shueisha manga that is other than One Piece. If you've never heard of it before, it's because it only just received an English translation, but the anime has been running for years, and its sixth season was a further outstanding entry. It turns out that was just the initial batch, because a "sequel" has been revealed as currently being made, and it will almost certainly debut in 2026.

Science Saru Will Adapt A Witch in Mongolia Into an Anime Series

A further studio famous for the excellent quality of its work, Science Saru has given us critically acclaimed works of the quality of Space Dandy, Devilman Crybaby, and, more recently, Dandadan. This time, the studio will be taking on the adaptation of Tomato Soup's manga A Witch's Life in Mongol, inspired by the true story of Fatima, an prominent woman and scholar in the Mongol Empire in the 13th century. Based on the trailer, the anime named Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia will have a truly original and intriguing visual style, which evokes Ranking of Kings. Scheduled to launch in July 2026, this one will absolutely be on my list of anticipated shows.

The Tougen Anki Series Is Set to Continue With a Second Season

Inspired by the Japanese legend of Momotaro, Tougen Anki brings to life the manga by Yura Urushibara.
